This painting is a part of my collection Terra. The collection has a pre-historic theme which focuses on the untouched nature before human beings existed.
The saber-toothed cat lived in the Pleistocene epoch, around 2 588 000 to 11 700 years ago. There were many different species, this one is a Smilodon, that lived in the North and South America, in forests and bushy areas.
This realistic painting of a Smilodon skull is made in acrylic paint on wood. The branches are conifer which were a part of the animal's habitat.
