'Church' is probably my darkest piece of jewelry ever made. It's inspired by gothic churches and spires with it's pointy edges and geometrical shape.
The crystal is obsidian, which is the kind of glass like rock that forms when lava from a volcano is cooled down so rapidly that there is no crystal growth, which creates the very smooth surface.
I have wrapped the crystal in polymer clay, a process that has to be made by forming and oven curing the clay in several stages, to make the necklace sturdy yet keep the shape smooth and not bulky.
On the back I have added extra details; two small marquise shaped labradorite crystals, a leaf texture, a small hole through the clay which shows the crystal, and also a Hexu stamp. With a tiny bit of imagination you can also see a small alien face on the back! I like the thought of that only the necklace wearer knows about all these extras that are not visible from the front.
The cord is vegan leather with black metal rivets, and the bails are black aluminium.
